In hiring employees in your company, you must not always believe what is written in their resume. Remember, an applicant is just like a saleman. He is trying to sell himself to you and in order to get the position, his resume would only reflect what is good about him. Thus, it is a good idea to must to have their background checked first.

Background checks doesn’t mean invading your applicants privacy like hiring private investigators etc. It may simply include checking of public records of your applicant for signs of malicious behavior or just to confirm what they have told you. Public records are data that has been recorded by public agencies (like criminal records or driving records) and as the term implies, can be accessed by the public (sometimes free but sometimes with fee). And if your don’t want to bother with the hassle of requesting them yourself, there are organizations or companies (some can be found online) that can help you get easily hold of those public records.
